Simpleton7016 3 Posted October 26, 2006 You know, I was just thinking about something. My next project is no project woohoo. Well, except for a spout rotator like KSever's which is being developed by Jay. But I plan to just take the winter to be with my kids. I also am praying for a good snow because my intention is to blow all the snow from my whole yard (just 3/4 acre) into one monster pile for them to play on, build forts, etc. I did tear down a couple of 48" decks and will keep the parts individually soaking in an electrolysis tank all winter. As each part is stripped of that horrible rust, i will coat it with some rust converter and paint it all in the late spring and build a couple of new decks. I want to experiment with some different ideas. Oh yeah, back to my next project: a stack muffler. My question is this: my dad has an old Mercury that he put butterfly valves on the exhaust. Do any of you 'pullers' run with these? Has anyone ever seen them. They essentially allow you to by-pass the muffler at times but then switch it through the exhaust at other times. Am I showing my idiocy again? Stupid idea? Doable? I know the hot rod guys like them because they essentially serve as headers when wanted, but can change them into purring kittens when the police are around... Any thoughts? (I have thick skin so please feel free to tell me what a stupid idea it is!):)

MarksA-C 93 Posted October 26, 2006 Well, that would be to switch from... Quiet-Mowing the lawn, snowblowing:) LOUD-when the neighbor is yelling at you for no reason or for "being too loud";) Then Quiet again-for when the neighbor calls the cops:D
Simpleton7016 3 Posted October 26, 2006 why? Good question....extra horsepower? Nah, I didn't think you'd buy that excuse....no real reason, just to be a little different I guess! :)

MPH 12 Posted October 26, 2006 We used to call them cut-outs 'Dumps" Your kids will love a big snow pile. Did it for mine a couple years ago, as teenagers and a college kid, they had a blast digging into it, had a fire inside to roast marshmellow even. Around here, if I drive on the lawn in the winter it takes til July to green up.
