Deck Slides

I've been pricing out some replacement parts for a 60" deck I'm restoring. This part seems particularily pricey at Sandy Lake, SEW, and Jacks. #172567 (SLIDES) - $14.00 each. Given that mine are totally rusted out and I need 4 I was wondering if anyone has successful fabricated something that would replace the stock item. Sean

Sean, I dont know the exact part you are speaking of, but did you price the 8 rollers you may need? $18 each about $160 for the rollers alone when I redid my deck last spring. Let me knwo if I can help

Yeah Aaron I see that this is going to be a pricey rehab. I think the rollers are in decent shape and should be usable. Since I've got 2 decks to work with as well as a third set of spindles (came with my original tractor)I'm going to try and piece it together cheaply. The deck that we bought with the 4040 from NY was filled with alot of garbage and water under the deck cover, but surprisingly it is pretty sound structurally. I'm just tearing into it but you know I'll holler if I get stuck. BTW the Slides are the part that go into the adjusting slots in the lower rocker arm assembley near the roller array.

Unless you have a machine shop and time on your hands, pay the money

Sean, I have made some by modifying a square nut. Just drill out to the hole size you need and, if I remember right, you might have to grind down the thickness a little. I am working on 2 decks and if you don't want the rollers from Aaron I would be interested. Jim
