mbrook 0 Posted October 31, 2006 Here is a pic of my 3212h, its not pretty, but it does a pretty good job mowing, and I like the older hydro better than the newer ones. I'm hoping to clean-up and paint this tractor at some point, I just need to figure out where to get the decals.
msiebern 0 Posted October 31, 2006 I have been around these Simps and AC's for over 40 years and they never cease to amaze me what a fine job they do, even in their senior years! As I approach my senior years I need a repaint and decals myself, but I feel I can still outwork some of them new whipper-snappers ;) Great looking lawn and great looking tractor, it has character! MPH 12 Posted October 31, 2006 Even though your 3212H looks like it's 'been there done that' it sure lays down some nice looking stripes.

ka9bxg 3 Posted October 31, 2006 Just looking at the throtle on the side.It looks like a mod but might be a good one.If you made it let me know how you did it.Bob
Simpleton7016 3 Posted November 1, 2006 Those are excellent stripes. Ya know, I have seen several comments that the broadmoors do the best striping...but those look pretty good. Is there any reason that one model of tractor might do better striping than another? It seems that most of it has to do with the length of the grass and the condition of a person's rollers. I don't get that great of a striping effect, but I also keep my lawn pretty short. Are there other variables why a broadmoor would leave better stirpes that say a landlord or a sovereign? On a side note, my wife is fed up with me pointing out lawns that are mowed by a Simplicity model tractor. Everywhere we go, I say "there's a Simplicity mowed lawn". She just doesn't appreciate it....but still gets mad that I can't tell purses apart! [:0]
mowerman1193 0 Posted November 1, 2006 Sweet looking lawn!!! I nned a large frame tractor so I can make wide stripes LOL..One thing about the Broadmoors is you can get more stripes per lawn LOL
mbrook 0 Posted November 1, 2006 Thanks for all the comments Bob, I did the mod to the throttle, but I can't take credit for the idea. It was one that I had seen here on this site that I thought was well worth doing. Here is the link to a thread with it in and some pics. http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=18049&SearchTerms=throttle It is a very simple change and in my opinion very well worth it. Simpleton7016, I agree alot has to do with the condition of the grass, and length, but also how the sun reflects on it. I do think that some decks stripe better than others. I have a 7117 with a 48" deck that does a good job, but not quite as nice as the 3212H. Both are set as close to 3" as I can get, and set according to the manual, with the tip of the front center blade 1/4" higher than the rear blades. The difference is the older style decks were deep all the way to the back, were the newer decks taper down near the back of the deck. As for my opinion on the Braodmoors cutting better, I would guess that it may have to do with weight distribution on the rollers. The smaller decks are not as heavy as the larger ones but, I would guess the pressure or displacement of weight on the rollers may be more. Just my thoughts. CHolmes 0 Posted November 23, 2006 What is the differance between the 3212 and the 3112?
Guest Posted November 23, 2006 The 3212 is one year newer. There are small differences in the pulley system as I can recall. Otherwise, they are fairly the same. Oh, you mentioned you have a 3112V in another post, there is a 3212H and 3212V then there is a 3112V and 3112H. The "H" stands for hydrostatic. Those are the nice transmissions for most applications. D-17_Dave 12 Posted November 24, 2006 I too did the throttle mod to my 212 and I love it. I'd never go back to the old style. I know this doesn't make me a purist on a restoration, but as well as it works I'll live with it.8D:D
jjouelle 0 Posted November 24, 2006 I love the way my landlord leaves stripes! I also have a 2002 "green" machine (anyone interested in buying it?) with a 42" mulching deck that cuts great, but leaves no stripes at all.
UCD 14 Posted November 24, 2006 The center P.T.O. is different in the way it is made. The mower deck drive belt is a double V belt as well as the pullies. These can be changed back to the single V type. There are a few other little differences that I don't remember rigt now.
CHolmes 0 Posted November 28, 2006 OK I see the differances, This is a great site as someone will always know what is what. Thanks
