Holy hydro hoses batman! (Update)

Upadate (Tues.)--took the shroud off the engine on the 3212. It was spotless inside, save for the rust, which I brushed off. Put it all back together, and now I'm missing a cotter pin! It was through this piece of pvc that was attached to the kill switch (switch mounted on the engine) so it can be accessed through a hole through the hood. Can't find it for the life of me, so it just might be inside the shroud. B)B) Soooo, I get to take it apart all over again, probably Thurs. afternoon. Probably stuck on the flywheel. At least I didn't put it back in the tractor. Went to NAPA and picked up 6' feet worth of gates hydrolic hose for the 3212. Came to about $14, which is a far cry from over $40 if I got OEM. It was tough getting them on the fittings with so little room, but I managed. Thanks for eveyone's help. Tomorrow, if time permits, I will be pulling the motor to clean off the fins and try to figure out what's wrong with the throttle/carb and get it to work (stand by everyone lol). Hopefully I'll be driving it tomorrow afternoon! [original message]> Just did a parts lookup on jacks small engine site on the hydro hoses for the vickers I posted about. one hose was for $3.15. The second was for $6.46. The remaining two, same part number, are $17.69 a piece! [:0] Now there's a range for ya!

You have to be careful on parts on these little tractors... you can quickly drive up the price of your machine in parts! I've kept a log of what I've spent in parts, quickly belts, little things end up being a lot larger.

Yeah Michael that's what I'm trying to avoid...hardly paid anything for it but if I put too much into it I could have bought the same model in much better shape without the headaches. I know I need a s/g belt and the hydro hoses (going with bulk after seeing those silly prices and cutting to length). Already bought new battery, cables and a carb kit. Still don't know if it will have charging problems, and other issues. The battery and cables I don't mind because I could use them on other machines.

After you spend 300-400 dollars and have a tractor in good shape, capable of doing lots of different chores, go down to your nearest box store and look at what you would of spend just too mow your grass for a couple years, you'll feel better.

Simplicity314, I have a s/g belt, more than glad to give to you for shipping cost. $3.00 should cover it if you are interested. Its not new, but looks solid to me. Came off AC B-210.

Thanks Erik! Very nice of you but not too concerned about the belt...I think I have one laying around anyway. Basically, my concern is getting the hoses then finding out the tranny is bad. When I got the engine running, the tranny fluid just poured out so I shut it right down. Pat Rarick suggested cutting the bad hose and putting a coupler in. I plan on doing that just to see if it moves. Motor works, BGB is good, cooler circulates so if the tranny is good then I won't mind putting a little more into it. Marty...oh yeah...I hear you. A grand for a piece of tin riding mower is rediculous....I'll pull a push mower out of the dump before I buy something like that!
