rectifier check

Recommended Posts

Todd
I have the rectifier off of my ac 616 and I would like to run a check on it to see if it is good. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? It has four wires coming out of the rectifier, two are yellow, one is red, and one is green. I have no wiring diagram of the engine so I'm kinda in the dark. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Todd

Todd: The two yellow wires are the AC input (from the Alternator) and the red and green are (probably) the DC + and - respectively. An ohmmeter between red and green should read zero to a few ohms in one direction and a few K to a Meg or so in the other direction. The resistance between the yellow wires should be about the same in either direction. Best way to test it is to take it to an alternator repair shop. BTW, I thought the 616 had a Generator.
