midnightpumpkin
My earlier post didn't seem to get the response I was looking for. The question is: Does anyone know how to decipher the codes on the back of a Delco 1118988 voltage regulator. The codes in question are: 1414 12V and 13P14 12V, what do these codes mean? Thanks, John U
UCD
You do not have to start a new post to get the response you want. If anyone Knows the answer to your question they will answer it. If no one answers it is because they have no comment or can't answer your question. You had 150 readers on your previous post. If you have more to say or ask on the same topic ask in the original post. Al ( Al Eden ) answered your question as to why the starter/generator keeps turning with the key off in your previous post. Al is a dealer that knows what he is talking about. My suggestion would be to get in touch with Delco and ask them about the codes.
BLT
If the P/N is the same, it, probably a manufacturing date code for warranty purposes. And for the record, when GM divested its non-car divisions, Delco - Remy kept the starter generators and so on, but all of the regulators ended up at A-C. I still have a name at Delco where I can get some stuff at work, but regulators are a real bear. They are there but they magically show up and you can't find anybody to talk to. midnightpumpkin
I suspect that the regulator marked 1414 12V is in fact not pn 1118988, but some other variant that has the same case and terminal configuration. The reason I want this information is that the regulator is brand new and my only basis for returning it is if I can show it is not a 1118988. Thanks for your responses. UCD
Your other option to return it is if they sold it to you as a part# 1118988 it is defective as it should not cause the Starter/Gen to continue turning. The only thing you should be concerned about is the part #. I just had the same problem only the one I got was blowing fuses. Took it back and told them what it was doing and they refunded my money. Just because it is new doesn't mean it can't be defective. I ran into this a few times when I had my Garage.
