electric spout rotators

Hi all, here is an early Christmas present to all that want an electric spout rotator for their 7000/7100 series or Sunstar snowblowers, or need to fix a dead one. The factory set up is hard to find, and it is expensive to replace the motor. I was just working on one and did a little research. The blower is from the mid 1980's on a 7116 - original stuff. The spout rotator motor says Delco on it, and has a Delco part number of 1697345. The local NAPA has a cross reference for it - Ray4916. They stock it as a remanufactured unit for around $85, plus core. The current Simplicity price for the motor is almost $300! It looks like the other parts for an electric conversion are still available as parts, or easily fabbed. The motor is actually a right rear door power window motor from a 1970's GM car - don't know what model though. Anyone have a Hollander exchange book to find out which cars? The same motor is used on the 990880 (173346 - supercedes), the 1690116 (1664115), and 1691366 (1664115). Hope that helps! Tim

Thanks for the specific motor info Tim. I used a GM motor to build my rotater last winter. I made the whole rotater unit to fit on a Sears blower that I mounted on my 716H. Actually there are no Simplicity parts in my homemade rotater.

Thank you. Good subject that I know has been talked about before. The NAPA number will make a big difference. Pretty funny I just got done working in the garage for the nite. I made an extention handle for my spout rotator handle to reach inside the cab! 8D. If either one of you have pics of your set-up, I would be interested in seeing them. or better yet the Simplicty part number for the electric kit would be great. Rob

This is the one I made last year. I bought the motor off of Ebay for I think $15. I believe the motor is from a right door from a Monte Carlo. Works great!:D:D

Any GM full size power window motor from late 70's to mid 90's will work right or left. I have been useing them for years. I bought a new one from dealer and it was $85.00 a coule years ago. They go for between $15 and $25 on ebay.

Go one step further guys and eliminate the cable altogether, see my post on a geared electric chute rotator, this is my second season with it and it works great. http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=57153

You Know better than to ask that question. Was there any doubt?
