Mowingman 0 Posted January 14, 2007 A few months ago I asked for ID help on this walker, without pictures.B) now that I have photoshop, I thought I'd ask again. This is a walker I picked up from a guy in town for $30 in march, mainly for the plow. so far, it hasn't matched up to any other walker I've seen :(! . a pic of the walker: It has a single pulley at the gearbox, the tag reads " simplicity mfg. company, no. s16528R". the only other marking I could find was a casting number, 8502 ( or 8s02). The engine that's on it was borrowed from a tiller so the tractor could be tested. (works fine) This pic is of the original engine( stripped down), tag reads " model 5s, type 700044". It has a round gas tank, similar to the one in this picture: http://www.simpletractors.com/images/walkers/brush_saw.jpg as of yet I have not found a source for parts, but would like to get it running. It'd be nice to fix up and have it for shows, but if it can't move under its own power and be used in the garden its going up for sale. Any help identifying the tractor model or tracking down parts is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick
D-17_Dave 12 Posted January 14, 2007 I don't know that much about the walker models but Briggs quite makeing parts for the 5 and 5s models years ago. What all does it need?
Mowingman 0 Posted January 14, 2007 since I don't know what the compression is supposed to be, it might need rings and or head gasket. Also, I have no information on what the magneto gap is, I'm not sure if I need ignition parts or if it's just misadjusted. since parts are no longer available, I probably won't be keeping it for too long. If anyone here's interested in it, it came with a plow, cultivator, disc, furrower, counterweight, reel mower, sickle mower, and a frozen PTO attachment. John_RI 8 Posted January 15, 2007 Bob's Small Engine Repair lists a Model 5s Operators Manual and Parts List http://www.bblin@bser.com/PAPERCHS.HTM I'm not sure about parts but you might fine someone that has them all if you spend some time on some briggs club/support sites. Karl_Brandt 6 Posted January 17, 2007 Hello Nick, That is a Simplicity model B walking tractor from 1947-48. That tractor should have a Briggs & Stratton engine model N on it. There are no parts available for the tractor, the model N engine can be found used at tractor shows or someone that collects old engines. Karl For more information go to my website on 2 wheel walking model charts.
