plastikosmd 1,002 Posted January 16, 2007 well now for a 2wd tractor..while this does not sound odd at first...it also only has 2 wheels. traded away the old plasma and some cash...is a 2 wheel drive bike/tractor (depends on who you talk to on what it is considered), will climb a tree, stores extra fuel or water in it's hollow rims...floats (without rider), will hold about a 1k load or tow 3k or so, and is set up so it can even drag a reel mower, moldboard plow, 3 point hitch, trailer, spreader, log carrier or sidecar as more interesting attachments..mine is the yellow one..pickin it up in 2 wks. should go nice with the quadractor www.rokon.com http://www.rokon.com/products/accessories.htm www.rokonworld.com

rokon2813 272 Posted January 16, 2007 quote:Originally posted by shanhamm wow, never seen anything like it! HHMMMM I have :D:D 160 cc driveshaft thru the frame to gearbox in the steering head? Made from the early 60's (?) to the present. What year is yours? Also AMERICAN made [:0] still in New Hampshire I beleive. If you like and I can find it, I have a sales brochure somewhere around here from a few years ago. By the way, the wheels hold about 5 gallons of gas and you can also get the same wheel for the sidecar to total about 17 gallons I think or several hundred mile range. Little known fact, last time I researched it (a few years ago) the US military owned about 2500 of these for recon. top speed is about 30 or so, but they will climb 45 degrees plus and the carb is an all position unit, so as it floats on its side it will stay running. For a few years in the early 70's they made a one wheel drive "enduro" street legal bike, the RT 340 . 17" aluminum wheels that could be unbolted and switched between front and rear. 340cc Fichter and Sachs engine (snowmobile engine) with snow mobile style primary and secondary clutches, pull cord start, and the first "dirt bike" with disc brakes front and rear. Top speed about 80 [:0] This last paragraph is fist hand knowledge, thus the nick. I raced one one season in vintage motocross. Waaay too heavy for racing, but the best trail and climbing bike I've ever owned.
plastikosmd 1,002 Posted January 16, 2007 me either until a couple of weeks ago..then in doin some research..looks like there is quite a following...still are made today. i guess their description from the manufacturer is a "mototractor" they dont go fast but can go anywhere..and do a lot..should be fun..will snap pics when i get it thanks for the info rokon! looks like a blast..i dont think i will rig it up like a tractor..probably use it for woods riding..where there are no trails..just put a gps on it and have fun scott
rokon2813 272 Posted January 16, 2007 I added to the above if you missed it. ;) Depending on the age of yours, I think you will find a Chrysler engine in it. I dont own mine anymore, it went away a couple years back to make room for more tractors. }:)
plastikosmd 1,002 Posted January 16, 2007 thats too bad...i will find room! love the unique stuff..next a 6 wheeler!..think mine dates 69 or 1970. will know more when i get it. scott
Willy 2 Posted January 16, 2007 Wow a nice looking machine. Being a cycle buff (x-cycle buff Mama thinks I to old)I can appreciate most anything with 2 wheels. I bet mowing the lawn with that is a lot of fun.
ridgerunner 3 Posted January 17, 2007 With such long travel suspension like that, you should easily be able to handle 20' jumps. If not more:) -Paul
plastikosmd 1,002 Posted January 18, 2007 yep but at the top speed of about 35 mph, probably would just fall off the end of a ramp! and honestly on this model...no suspension..you get cushion from the tires..but it is all solid. guess they figured the low speeds at what this travels at..and what it is used for (mototractor) it didnt need suspension. the dual chain drive with the override clutch to prevent it from powering you into the ground on a turn (since the front and rear move at different speeds) probably was enough engineering for them at the time scott
