B-16_IC 1,029 Posted January 21, 2007 I have found some time as of late to work on my little beast I am calling "Super Bee". I have two B-12's, one was pretty complete the other a parts tractor. This one is the more mechanically solid machine. The parts tractor has way too much slack in the BGB to withstand hard use. So.....the better one is getting the custom workhorse treatment and the parts tractor will receive the good "visual" parts between the two and get a show restoration. So far I have put on dual 5-12 ags using a pair of cast weights as adaptors. Also a 16 hp I/C with stack exhaust and an extended intake, and some custom tinwork in the works. Take a look and tell me what you folks think, I am open to suggestions. This is all clamped together, I will be making it all look smooth and seamless later. Thirteen years of working autobody will be put to use making it look as good as my mechanical abilities will make it work. I hope that is;)! The only parts I have bought so far were these fenders, you folks think I should widen them? I am going to fill in the gap between them and the pan. Other than the fenders all parts are from my own junk, as you can see in the background I have plenty lol! If you have orange colored glasses like mine imagine it in AGCO Allis orange, white wheels, and black undercarriage. Also a Dodge "Scat Pack" Bee in place of the Allis ones. I will keep ya updated. MPH 12 Posted January 21, 2007 Widen the fenders to cover the duals was my thought while looking ove the first pic. Like the aircleaner stack. Have had thoughts of doing that to get 'em up outta the dust. Why the raised hood? It's not junk, it's STuff^^ A man with no stuff can hardly engage his creative side of the brain. Rob-B 0 Posted January 22, 2007 I agree with Marty. If you are going to change the fenders make sure they cover all of the duallies. The hood looks kinda neat from the front view but a little weird from the side. We'll watch progress on the one. Rob
Scott Salmons 7 Posted January 22, 2007 You got an extra B-12 seat anywhere in the mix? Sure could use one!!
B-16_IC 1,029 Posted January 22, 2007 Thanks for the input! I am going to widen the fenders, I can't argue with that. The hood is what I had around, I think I will try to lower the front so it is level. It is raised to clear the battery and gas tank, I am putting in a larger tank (what I had around that wasn't rusty) it is where the battery was and of course the battery is where the tank was so it sits higher. Is that crazy enough lol?! I like a challenge! So does my wife apparently, she married me! I'll keep ya'll posted!
wminmi 0 Posted January 22, 2007 welcome aboard!! cast weights as adapters.....now that's a great idea! You get the advantage of duals AND weights at the same time! I like it!!
B-16_IC 1,029 Posted January 31, 2007 I was going to band the fenders like pullers do rear rims, but instead I let my imagination get the better of me and a seat pan from an 11hp Monkey Wards. This is what a few hours of sawzall and hammer n' dolly got me. Still have a ways to go. What do ya think?
Kent 436 Posted January 31, 2007 That'll work -- but you either need to extend the outside edges of the seat pan down in back so that it covers the inside tire, or trim the trailer fender to match the length of the seat pan...
B-16_IC 1,029 Posted January 31, 2007 I was thinking that too Kent, not sure what I will do. I will have do something about the hinge, the fenders hit the tires on the way up. More thinking is in order!
Kent 436 Posted January 31, 2007 How about cutting off 1/2 of what's sticking down on trailer fender in the back -- then use it to extend the seat pan down to match that length... i.e. make both parts stick down 1/2 as far as the trailer fender now does... Ketchamized 2 Posted February 1, 2007 The tractor looks great... I concur with Kent regarding the rear looking a little bit off. Maybe it'd look great if you made it look similar to the AC B-210 fender? It'd give it a more "bulky" look, and it'd give a little bit more protection. You could add about 1" of steel underneath the center of the rear of the seat pan. Then, chop off around 3" off both rear fenders. Add about 3" to the inner sides of both rear fenders to provide more protection for the inner wheels. After all is done, maybe round the edges a little bit? Here's a picture to help give you an idea of what I'm thinking... Best of luck! Hope you figure out something ideal. ON EDIT: If it doesn't work out, I suspect a B-210 seatpan/fender would fit on there nicely.
B-16_IC 1,029 Posted February 1, 2007 Thanks guys, It is always helpfull to hear other opinions and ideas. I think I will put a little of both ideas to work, I can see it now!
MarksA-C 93 Posted February 1, 2007 I made this off of Ericks Ideas.
B-16_IC 1,029 Posted February 3, 2007 Thanks for the input! I really appreciate the ideas. I worked a bit on it this afternoon after I removed a couple rotten tires from a couple Simplicity rims. I am going to all 6.00x12, new ones so they match, and they will be taller. I took the sawzall to the fenders and cut half off and put it inside (great idea Kent ;) ). I am planning on putting a little triangle piece in the inside corner like in Mark's editing, nice job by the way it really helped.

FastPaul 0 Posted February 3, 2007 Hey Rich looks good so far. Once you get the tires matched up and painted she should be sweet .Keep up the good work :D Mabey some light boxes on top of the fenders now. I'm thinking of something on those lines for my seat pan project,
D-17_Dave 12 Posted February 3, 2007 Good thing we weren't working for AC back when these tractors were first drawn up. No telling how they would look. But I bet they would be overbuilt and run almost forever...... O yea, they do that now.;)8D
