Charlieson 0 Posted January 29, 2007 I pulled my holy rim off my 3416 Saturday afternoon. Popped the wheel from it and took a gander inside expecting to see a corroded mess. Wrong. Inside of rim was just as white and pretty as the day it came from the factory. Only rust was in the spot where the hole was. Boy was I surprised. Anyway, I found my spares Sunday and plan on putting one on it. I'll keep the rim with the hole and weld it when I get more time. Hate to throw it away with only one small hole in it. :)
HubbardRA 19 Posted January 29, 2007 I would weld it up. You might want to run a tube afterward. It is hard to make a weld that is completely free of porosity and will not leak slowly, unless you are an expert welder. A weld does not hurt a wheel. I have three sets of wheels that have been cut and widened. I did two of those sets myself. I have never had a problem with any of them, and the weld goes all the way around the wheel, around 3 feet of weld per wheel.
Charlieson 0 Posted January 30, 2007 I'll probably weld it later. Perhaps when it gets a little warmer ;-]
