builder386 0 Posted January 30, 2007 Hi all, I'm new to the club. My BIL, known to some of you as slb04786, got me into this. As far as I can tell, its a 1984. Dealer sticker on side panel says "J. F. Gudde Holden, MO". Bought it from an ebay auction, from NY state. She's traveled a long way to get from MO to Maine! It starts, runs, drives, deck lifts, but doesn't have a belt from the PTO to the deck. The arbor does turn freely along with all 3 blades. I'm am positive that I'll be asking for some advice from time to time, as this is my first AC, actually my first tractor period. Great club you folks have created, BTW. ehertzfeld 1 Posted January 30, 2007 Welcome PJ! Seeing how your only 95 miles or so, to the next Gathering Of the Orange, I hope to see you there! It's in Farmington this coming June. A bunch of us are going up. Meeting members at shows make the club experience even sweeter. It's really nice to put a face to that club name. I have made great friends over the few years I have been a member. We look forward to seeing more pictures and stories/projects from you.:D
builder386 0 Posted January 30, 2007 I noticed a photo gallery from Eliot, ME but didn't know there was one in Farmington. We go camping up that way at least once a year. Maybe this year will have to coincide with the gathering.

builder386 0 Posted January 30, 2007 What do you suppose they were trying to lift to bend the upright bars like that? It doesn't appear to be affecting anything else. I plan on taking them off and straightening them in a press.
builder386 0 Posted January 30, 2007 quote:Originally posted by Rob-B Nice unit, I was whating that one too. How did you get it to Maine anyways? Rob I got up at 3 AM last Sunday, left here at 4:15 AM. Drove to Elmira, NY, loaded the ol girl up, and drove back. Got back home at 8:30 PM, just enough time to get it unloaded and off to bed! What a long freakin day! So far I think it was worth it. I got it for $343. Spent about $125 in gas. As soon as I can find a 42" blower for it I will sell the Ariens 1128 snowblower for more than what I have in the whole deal including the 42" blower. Go to discussions, then general information, then events and gatherings, there is a whole topic with all the info on it.

BLT 725 Posted January 30, 2007 Nice tractor. When you can, take off some some of that engine shrouding to make sure your cooling fins are not plugged. Those fins are your radiator so to speak and you and you can't tell what shape it is in unless you take it apart a bit.

Those fins are your radiator so to speak and you and you can't tell what shape it is in unless you take it apart a bit. Make sure that after you clean the cooling fins, you reinstall the shrouding. That is what directs the airflow properly and the engine will cool better with them on than with them off. Welome to the club and good luck with a nice looking tractor!
