Mower deck not Level

Recommended Posts

MarksA-C
Because of a lack of snow and me being bored out of my mind, I desided to try out my mower deck on my 610. Its a 36" A/C B207 deck from Skot71. It hooked right up, but when I raised it up, the side oposite the lift chain is still on the ground. I tried about 5 different setups and gave up. All I have is the small chain connected to the lift arm. Should there be running one from the other side mount of the deck to the lift arm also? There was only one connection to hook up. The other side may hang a bit lower but it shouldn't drag on the ground, as far as I know none of mine have been dragging one side on the ground.

Are you sure your front hitch is all pinned in OK. My 5010 tends to be a tad lopsided but when hoisted, the mower rollers will barely clear the grass.

Wear in the linkage pins and mounts will allow a considerible amount of slack to show up when you raise a deck from one side like this. I've had several that do this.

Mark, I can come over and help you with this....in the spring!:D You finally picked something that I am qualified to help you with, and it is friggin 15 degrees below zero! Do you have ants in the pants or something? :D Or talk your parents into working on it on the kitchen table (and if they could watch my kids for an hour) and we will dial that thing in real nice in about an hour! But sorry, I ain't laying on the concrete this weekend! :O

This has more to do with the front mounts than in the back where you pick it up. The front mount arms are tight and not sloppy it should only sag a little when picked up. Worn holes and sloppy arms will cause this to be a lot greater.

i'd concurr that the problem is in worn pins, bushings and hole up in the front hitch part. The tighter things are there the more level the deck hangs from the tractor.

I never hooked up my deck lift up last summer. never had any problems, even when backing tractor into garden shed.

The two front mounts are a little sloppy but barely worn. I'll replace the bolts and see if I can tighten up the front mounts. Thank you all for the help.:Q And Erik, I might need to take your offer come spring.

When I got that deck, someone had welded another mounting tab on the deck bracket. The tractor also had a tab welded on the operator's left side on the end of the shaft that the lift lever pivots on. I assume that was to take care of the deck not being level when up. None of mine hang level, including that one when I hooked it up to try it. I've tried to think of a way to make it hang more level, but I think what the other guys have suggested, checking the front mounts, is probably the best way. Good luck!

Mark, My deck's almost exactly like yours. When it was on the B-210, this recent summer, it wasn't level when raised. It was probably 3/4" off level. When it's lowered, it runs level on the rollers like it's supposed to. I didn't like the idea of it not being level, myself. I guess Simplicity/Allis felt that the decks were tough enough to handle being lifted off one side. Another thing I would recommend in addition to the others' suggestions here is to tighten every bolt that is holding the deck body pieces together. The more rigid the deck is, the least likely it'll break. Also, it would improve the level somewhat. Good luck!
