MPH 12 Posted February 19, 2007 Needed some stress relief last night and today so I got after my dozer blade I scored last summer. It was way to rusty to think snow was gonna slide off of it very good, actually pitted from years under a blue tarp. Even the hitch was pitty/rusted After a few hours of wirewheeling gave it all a bath with simplygreen and a coat of rust killer After second coat of primer with wet sanding on the front between coats, kinda filled the rust pits. Even though I been able to maintain 70 out there, I like Quick dry, warm parts Now for at least first coat of ACE hdw A/C orange I bought a dozen cans of some time long ago. Roy 0 Posted February 19, 2007 "Needed some stress relief last night" Marty, wasn't aware that you had any stress in TOK. What have you been doing to create stress?? BTW, nice work on the blade & hitch.

ehertzfeld 1 Posted February 19, 2007 Marty, I use that ACE paint. It's pretty good, but it take a very long time to cure. Once fully cured, it's really durable.
MPH 12 Posted February 19, 2007 How long does it take between coats to dry enough to sand lightly Elon? here's first coat on. and how long before I can plow snow? Roy, caused by something I did about 18 years ago:I
ehertzfeld 1 Posted February 20, 2007 you should be able to wet sand after sitting over night. I just know that wile trying to put the 725 back together after only waiting 24 hours or so, it scratch very easy.
ZippoVarga 75 Posted February 20, 2007 Looks Great Marty!! My 46 inch trip is covered in a light rust and the snow sticks to it like flies on um. It sticks pretty bad!! Thinking once the snow has given way to the spring time i'll face and paint the business end. Great in process pics, looking GOOD!! Carry on!!

johnmonkey 4 Posted February 20, 2007 That snow should just roll off nice and sweet now, it may even jump out of the way, once it sees how nice that blade is. JH

4xbill 2 Posted February 20, 2007 Nice Work! Nothing like some good tractor therapy.:D If you need more relaxing, let me know, I got half a dozen blades that need refinishing:O:o)
MPH 12 Posted February 20, 2007 Got two more coats on it,after a bathtub shower and wet sand this morning, think that's all it's gonna get. Gonna let it harden for a few days, right over the hot air duct off the wood stove, in it's well deserved new shiny skin, free of nasty brown metal eatting cancer, before I put anything back together, maybe longer if I get involved in something else.C Sean, just doing the face end was kinda my plan, but I HATE rust, so it always all has to go away when I get into something. I learned on my first blade the difference a paint job makes on snow sliding off, kinda of a nite/day deal. "They will have their own kids someday and you can enjoy their frustration" That's good John:D:D, but don't they just bring them around to see grams then take off someplace? Thanks Bill, but I have more fixing projects to do then I have winter left. Think I have 2 or 3 more blades myself, just don't need them yet. Mower rebuild gotta get high on my list and mounted on the 3314.
