Scott Salmons 7 Posted February 21, 2007 Lets say a guy really would like to have a HB-112 and he has a 3212H with hydro lift, would it be wrong to make it into an AC? All that would be needed is a hood? Thanks
Ketchamized 2 Posted February 21, 2007 Scott, The numbers wouldn't match. But for those not looking, I don't think it would matter much. You'd need a seat and a hood to make it an AC, as well as the right color.
Chris727 2,148 Posted February 21, 2007 Its your tractor so you can do with it as you please, I don't think its wrong, I thought about building an HB from several other tractors, a 416-H for rear end, B-210 for chasis, and a b110 for hood and grill, but decided against it as each of them was to complete to split up. KenK 0 Posted February 22, 2007 My desinated snowblower tractor is a HB-112 that was formally a B-112.The variable was shot and I had a good hydro out of a homlite T-16 so the marriage was made. Oh it's also got a 15hp briggs out of a gilson.
goatfarmer 817 Posted February 22, 2007 I think you should have anything you want. If that's an HB3212, so be it!dOd
Guest Posted February 22, 2007 I asked the question in another post whether a show machine or worker... I think another question to ask is are people "originalists", "Crusty", "customizers", or "restorers". I'd say Crusty/Customizers would have no problem taking a 3112H and making it HB112. Originalists may cringe. Restorers may be split. I am thinking of doing that with a B1... I have a lot of 725's and I have most of the parts of a B1. Like others say, it's your machine do as you please. Tearing up old machines and making fakes will only make the real ones more rare and more valuable. Though, I don't think collection value is going up recently, from my take the bottom is even dropping on the collections. Probably because people have learned to wait. Also based on my last post, a majority of the club is focusing on Workers verses Show machines. IMO: The more any club (nat/loc) moves away from promoting showing of tractors, the more the hobby is just to keep these machines running. If any club (nat/loc) promotes restorations and shows, you'll find the collection value going up.
HubbardRA 19 Posted February 23, 2007 My AC 713S, which you will not find in any literature, was built from parts from 8 or more tractors. I started with a pile of junk. Do I notice that the numbers don't match when I mow the lawn with it? Does that make it drive funny, or not handle the attachments properly?Nope to both. I don't have any tractors that are pure stock, the way they came from the factory.
