Blade/Blower Q

Is it possible for a memeber to start a pole? I used a snow dozer blade on my 725 and enjoy it very much, while I do have the highly sought after 3 belt blower{lol lol} I have never had the desire to hook it up because I like the blade so much. My question is, For those that have used both the blower and Blade which one do you prefer?

A wile ago, Kent did have a pole on what members use to clear snow. I don't remember witch was widely used. I use both my self. I personally love to blow snow. It looks better when done, and is actually faster than a blade. Plowing, you always get those " death cookies" that you have to go back a get. The biggest advantage is that you can put the snow were you want it. If you get a lot of storms, with a blade, you eventually run out of places to put it. Also you have to start the season with a wider than normal drive way, just to leave room for new snow. With a blower, you can blow it right over were you last blown. For me it's also the " this is great" factor. There is nothing cooler than blowing snow 20 feet in the air!:D

I guess that would depend on what I want to use it for sm00 A blower don't do to well on moving dirt piles:D:D I never tried it in manure piles either..Does ok on leaf piles for scattering them all over the yard on a windy day after you just raked up the pile:D:D No all joking aside, I like both and really it does depend on what kind and how much snow I need to push/move..If its wet slushy snow or 5-6" or less I would rather use a blade..If its alot of snow then a blower seems to move it better..I also like to use the blower from time to time to cut back the piles left by the blade as long as you get to them before a thaw and refrozen that is..

Not having a cab I likwe my blade,I put it in #rd gear and go like heck. I like to blow snow also but I always end up wearing half of it. I have to agree that you have to make a wider path to make room for the next one.XX(

I use the blade only when the snow is no more than 2" deep. Between 2" and 4" I windrow the snow with the blade and then blow the windrows away. 4" and deeper, I use the snowblower only.

I love using the blade. But with my tractor, I can only push a maximum of 6 to 8 inches of snow. Any more snow than that, (like we are getting today) I have to hook up the blower!

The best option would be to be able to afford and store two tractors, one with a blade and the other with the blower. You could then use whichever one your mood and the conditions suit better. If you only have one, mount the one which will handle your usual snow conditions better.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones with both blower and blade. The blade is actually more fun if theres only about 4" and the weather isn't too cold. The blower really moves the snow and the cab is the only way to go, if its windy. To tell the truth I usually end up using them both, depending which one is parked in front of the other in the garage.8D

Right now I have a blower on my 64LL with cab, a blade on Ugly Betty, a 3 belt blower on my 725, and a blade and cab on the 7013.

I firmly believe that one attachment per tractor is ideal. I have owned both snowthrower and snow blade. I discovered that I used only the blade. So I sold the thrower, and used the proceeds to buy another tractor :D. Tacey

I've got both...and used both...within 14 hours of one another. Prefer the blower hands down. You can put the snow well off of the driveway, and it doesn't blow back in as deep.

First season with a blower and a large frame. Used to only have the broadmoor and 42 inch blade which served me well for many years in most all conditions. Just depended on how often I had to go clear the drive using the smaller framed tractor. With the large framed tractors, one equipped with the 46 inch spring trip and the other with the three belt blower, I have discovered a new passion and appreciation for the larger framed tractors abilities. The 64LL with the three belt blower really impressed me in this DEEP snow we got, but then again, the 3212V with blade impressed me with it's ability to throw it's weight through what ever was on the path. I guess if I had to go back to the broadmoor I would. To answer..it's all dependant on depth, snow type and wind conditions. No snow cab. But I use the blade all year round for many different tasks where as the blower serves only one purpose. IF I had to get rid of one over the other, I would have to get rid of the blower before the blade.

But no cab and do use the blade year round that would have to be my favorite. But since I mounted the blower on the 2012, I have a good excuse to keep the 112 or B10. The blower is handy to move the edges. "She" bought it so I'm stickin with it.:D:D

Blower for sure! depending on density and if it's 6" or less and I have PLAY time I'll use the plow. (don't forget to consider the the square footage of the area) that makes a BIG difference as to which you are willing to use/

I prefer the blower over the blade.

Here in Maryland we get a good bit of heavy wet snow that does not do well with a blower. We also don't get that much snow. I used the plow three times last year and once this year does not justify having a blower -- I can use the plow for other purposes. I prefer the plow.
