Mowingman 0 Posted March 3, 2007 I've been using the homelite for light plowing detail, everything works fine but the 'Gen' warning light won't go out. this has happened before, when I've had the lights going (not often) but has never discharged the battery like it does now. This happened a while back, and it turned out that the output wire from the S/G was twisted off. not so simple this time, nothing appeared to be wrong in the S/G. I can think of three possibilities- bad wiring, since it came up after I reinstalled the engine, bad regulator, which I don't think is right since it starts fine; or the brushes in the Generator. Any ideas? Thanks, Nick
ehertzfeld 1 Posted March 3, 2007 I don't believe the regulator has anything to do with starting the engine. It's just for the charging. I would trace the wires first, just to rule out a grounded or broken wire. Then test the generator. If you have a multimeter, that will tell you if it's putting out any voltage.
