S/Generator Q

With a 725. Has anyone ever repaired the generator part of the starter generator? If so how and was it hard? Thnx for any help.

Sometimes new parts show up on ebay, my Dad put new brushes in one a couple years ago, it was pretty easy.

Yep I repaired the S/G on my 725 that didn't work. I took it off and rope started it!:D

I have shaved the communtator with a hacksaw on a generator from a 1952 MG TD. You basically put a groove in the plates between the copper. I,m not sure if it will work with a S/G. JH

Took mine to starter shop $35.00 and just like new.

I had a guy right in my town for years that did these- he retired, leaving one guy in the area. Last quote I got was 150.00!sm00 If all else fails try this guy Herm, I bought three from him so far and no problems. http://stores.ebay.com/DB-Electrical-Starters-Alternators

local napa store sells new ones from across the big pond for a $120 or will fix one side for $50 or both sides for $100 celina oh ?
