HubbardRA 19 Posted March 5, 2007 Roy, I have one in my 61 Wards. You need should change the diff also if you want limited slip. You can use the older style diff with the friction screws, but you will need to cut off the end of the axle. Let me know if you have any more questions. We can talk this weekend. Roy 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Please expand on "you will need to cut off the end of the axle" if used with the original differential. Why? How much has to be removed?
GregB 972 Posted March 6, 2007 Roy, I was kind of hoping it would not fit a B-1 sm03, I think it would be a nice spare for my 700 and 900 series allis. Do you just need the axle? I have a parts trans at home with a blown axle tube, and no diff. It is the two piece axle hub set-up. I was going to find parts to fix it, but? I'm on the road on business this week, should be home Friday. If you are interested in the axle PM me. GregB
HubbardRA 19 Posted March 6, 2007 Roy, The right hub is longer on the newer type setups, and the axle is longer to match the hub. The bearings were set wider apart on that hub. If you use the older right side hub on a newer axle, the axle will stick out of the collar, probably at least an inch. That is what I meant. You will only need to cut it off if you want it to look stock. It will still work with the older hub, just sticks out some.
Roy 0 Posted March 6, 2007 GrebB, Go for it. I was thinking about getting it as a spare in case my welded LH hub and axle ever failed but don't need to spend the money. Hopefully the weld will outlast me. Hang on to your spare axle. One of us might need it some day. Rod, That's the info I wanted. Thanks,
