I think is is used to keep the sicklebar from being pushed upward to the point that the clutch/brake can't be pushed in. That piece is not needed when you have running boards.666

Thats it the last straw nothing but RBT's for me from here out.:D OH that right I don't have a sickle bar mower, I guess the FDT's are safe for now.8D
