mbrook 0 Posted March 12, 2007 Hopefully a simple question and probobly has been asked a few times, but I'm still having difficulties with the search function, so maybe someone can help out. I have a AC 410 with the 10hp Kohler. I do not have spark, I have have changed the points and condensor, and assume the coil would be next to check. Questions: Can I use an automotive coil? What is the least exspensive way to check? This is the first Kohler single I have worked on so I could use some help? Thanks
Brian313 0 Posted March 12, 2007 I use a true tech UC15T coil on my kohler and on 3 of my briggs, haven't had any problems yet. They list 25-30 dollars.
Chris727 1,849 Posted March 12, 2007 You can use an automotive coil but you will have to add a balast resister, Kohler coils have these built-in. A new kohler coil was around $25 or $30 for the last one I bought.
