BroadmoorMan 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Pictues I had before... New pictues! Well I got both axles out, made a call to my uncle to find out what I was looking at, and I found the problem! The rod that the gear assembly for 1st and reverse gear is on is bent. I KNOW that in the pictures it looks straight but trust me, it isn't. Does anyone know how much this part would cost today? Thanks a lot!
SimpleTom 4 Posted March 13, 2007 Tim, I just emailed you copies from the Broadmoor repair manual. Shows how to take it apart. Tom

KSever 8 Posted March 14, 2007 Seems to me it would take alot to bend that rod if it actually is bent, I would be looking for something else wrong.

Well if that is true then I don't know what else could be wrong. In the second pic you can see the assembly. Those forks are supposed to move via the spring that is in between them. This releases the fork allowing the gears to move. That does not happen. When I push down on the spring the forks do not move. Does anyone have a explanation for this? SimpleTom 4 Posted March 15, 2007 Tim, I agree with Kris. I think it would take alot to bend that shaft. If I remember right you told me once that your uncle knew exactly what was wrong with it. He said that it was a small spring. If you look at the pages I sent you it shows a small spring located within the hi/lo and reverse shaft/fork assemblies. It looks to me like it keeps pressure on the ball bearing and allows for the fork to move. I would look at those and see if that is what is your problem. Looks like that would be the more inexpensive repair anyway. Tom
