B-16_IC 1,029 Posted March 16, 2007 I have had way too many other projects going to do much to the beast lately. But i did get my hood hinges figured out. Like I told my wife, I can't afford to build streetrods at this point, so my overactive imagination is working on this poor tractor:Q The front will be held down with draw latches, it is spring loaded. It all rides on drawer slides so it can slide forward to clear the sreering wheel. It then tilts forward for easy fueling and tinkering. I plan on making a nose piece for the front of the hood kind of like a D-
ZippoVarga 75 Posted March 16, 2007 That's a trick idea, perhaps slip groves on the dash for the back of the hood to "latch" into would finish off the idea? Like a lip with sprung steel that will hold it in place untill a slight tug towards the front un snaps it from the holders....get my thought there? Carry On!!! ZippoVarga 75 Posted March 16, 2007 oh yeah, here's my custom....it's been posted a few times but i'm so proud of her I gotta take every opportunity to post pics of her. It's a 1970 JC Penney catalog order that I got for free last year and decided to customize. It's lowered, shaved and stretched. I'm including a pre mod pic along with the finished product. Hope you enjoy!! The after!! Always fun to let the imagination run wild....Carry on!!
Roy 0 Posted March 17, 2007 Rich, Please keep good notes and take lots of pictures on your hood hinge modification. I'm interested in doing something similar to my 3212V. A "bolt on" hood doesn't make sense to me. Thanks,
ZippoVarga 75 Posted March 17, 2007 Hey Roy!! I have the solution to your bolted down hood....do like i do with my 3212V, dont bolt it down..lol. }:):D:p
firefoxz1 4 Posted March 17, 2007 Sean, I did that on my 738 grass cutter but I couldn't hear myself think because it rattled to much so decided to bolt it on again. Rich, That will be a good look. Keep us posted on the progress.
B-16_IC 1,029 Posted March 17, 2007 I am greatfull for the words of encouragement! Sean, that is one nice little custom beasty you've created, I like the diamond plate! I will try to get some closeups of the slides when I get it fully welded together. BTW, I have a plan for holding the rear down. At least I hope I do! B-16_IC 1,029 Posted May 9, 2007 I have got a little more done on the beast. I trashed the spring loaded part and went solid up front. I came up with a way to hold the back down I think will work. I also rigged up a prop. And now it fell apart!&:)
