Knobby tires ?

Are knobby tires a good compromise between Agricultural tires and the turf tires ? I can hook up with a pair, on the rims, brand new for $50. But I do not want something that's going to rip up my lawn.

If you run AGs in the rear you will only hurt your lawn, if you spin the rear tires. I have used AGs to mow, and it didn't hurt anything. Knobby tires, are what they came from the factory with, but I find that they tear up things wile you turn. My lawn isn't the best. I have a lot of thin spots, so that is were they tear up grass. I am going with tri rib tires of the fronts. They seem to work the best all year round.

A tuff tire can cause more damage to a lawn than an Ag tire. The turf tire will spin easier than an Ag tire.

Had a Legacy come in the shop with the knobbies on it, and when the diff was locked, it was really aggressive. I suppose with anything, if you are careful, you will be fine, but I found them to be too agressive for mowing the lawn. They would be great for other chores though.

Well, I do not use this tractor to mow the lawn. ( have an Ariens and a Case/Ingersoll for that ). What I use this tractor form besides it's snowblowing/plowing duties is to cart combustionables to the burn-barrel in the 'back 40', so to speak (the lawn of which I do not wish to tear up),to cart my tiller across this lawn to the garden, and to move top-soil back and forth across this lawn using my home-built johnny bucket. The turf tires currently on this tractor, as Maynard says, rips up the lawn in the early morning hours when the grass is wet with dew, ect. But then again, I have heard some bad things about ag tires on sensitive lawns, & such. I was just wondering whether knobbies are a good compromise between turf & ag tires.
