MarksA-C Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I was hooking up my 6516 with the 18hp, and I saw that it had a extra wire... Then I looked at the parts 14hp and found some thing sticking out of the Carb area and the "lone" wire That was on the 14hps wire harness what on it. This is the thing... And I looked at the 18hp to find this hole (Bolt) for it... First off, what is it and what does it do?
bigdog46 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 It appears to be a fuel shutoff solenoid. When you turn off the ignition, it shuts off the fuel flow to the carbureator and vice versa, when you turn on the ignition, it allows fuel to flow to the carb.
firefoxz1 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 bigdog46 is right. Don't worry about it, just tape up the wire.
D-17_Dave Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 It helps prevent the "dieseling effect" of the engine continuing to run after you shut the swicth off. I wouldn't worry about it unless you experiance this condition with the replacement engine. Just leave the wire hanging but insulated against shorting out.
