ehertzfeld
Paul, here is the parts manual. Look at page 7, that should explain it. http://www.simplicitytechpubs.com/6767PRINT/PDF_files/TP_400_3364_00_AT_S.pdf

2burning
I practically shredded my sickle bar v-belt the last time I used it, but the thing looked like it was 40 years old to start with! It is mounted on a 700 series AC with an old style PTO. I think I have a 687 sickle, but the 173073 doesn't even seem to be a belt part number, it lists as some hydraulic tube fitting on a Powermax. 156120=63.1" 101136=64.1" 156120=63.1" 101137=68.1" 173073=? The old 210 handle lift sickle lists a 101007 belt=63.1" I see a belt 173037 at 66.2"? Does this just look like a Simplicity typo? Does anyone know if the belt length differences were for different model tractors instead of differences in the sickle? (I seem to remember a discussion about some of the oldest sickles having a shorter frame which hit the front tire on newer tractors, but otherwise the non cone clutch sickles seem a lot the same and so I don't get the need for different belt lengths...) crewchief12
Hey guys, I just picked up a sickle last night for my B112 it is a Simplicity 990538 - 46" it came off a B10. The belt is pretty short, the B112 has a longer wheel base, does anyone have a belt length for me or can you tell me where to get the belt length? I could not find a reference on the website. Thanks Mike

crewchief12
Greg C. Thanks for the input but I am measuring the belt at 67.5" on the 1 3/4" pully with a 1/2 inch rope pulled really tight on the tension spring. any input?
gregc
Michael, I got the belt number from the Simplicity Belt and Blade Ready Reference 2007, but it could be wrong. You might want to try Simplicity part #2101137SM = 68.1" HA belt. That's listed for a 990623 sickle mower.
crewchief12
Greg C. Thanks or the info, I remeasured with the tension spring released, the 64' will work and the belt will not be too tight. I used a 1/2 inch rope marked out at 64 then vise gripped the the overlapping parts and reapplied the tenson spring. It looks about the same tension as my mower deck belt. I should be cutting next week when the belt arrives. Thanks again Michael
