B-210 Steering boot

Recommended Posts

I'm getting the B-210 ready for the spring. There is a steering "boot" that's rubber with a metal cylinder inside, it stabilizes the steering rod where it goes through the dashboard. It's inserted in the dashboard hole where the steering column goes through. Mine's almost completely gone. I have 4 different PDF manuals, but none of them show this boot collar. Any idea what parts number it is, and what is the right name for it?

Ray, Thank you for the diagram. I think I need BV in the diagram. What's the number for that? Pat, That bushing you're talking about, what number is that on the diagram? I believe I need BV. This item is so far gone that I can't really tell what it looked like new. But, I would assume it had a "fin" on the top and bottom to keep it on the dash. In the middle, there's a metal collar. The dash hole has a 1" to 1 1/8" hole, and that rubber "boot" makes up for the space and gives the shaft stability. Thanks guys. :)

Jack's online catalog lists this part as NLA. You might give Brenda a call at Sandy Lake with the number and see what she can track down.

I was thinking that they were still available. I bought one a few years back for either the Big Ten or HB-216, can't remember which...

Corey, That's true, you could get used to it. :) But, the gear teeth get worn out and damaged quickly that way. (Creates play in the steering.) That's not a good thing, and eventually, you'll have to replace your steering box. The bushing keeps it in place so that minimum wear happens. Guys, Thank you very much for the information, much appreciated! I placed an order at Jack's small engines. Should have it soon. :o) Thanks again.
