Removing Gunk in tank

Guys, I did a search in the search engine with no results. My gas tank is very clean, no rust, but it has thick gas resiude on the bottom, and that's gunking up the shut off valve. Is there a chemical that I can use that would melt the gunk and get it out? Thanks

Carb. Cleaner, Mineral spirits or Lacquer thinner if you have any.
