allis and briggs

i have an 11 horse 400cc briggs that i would like to put in my simp 4211. the briggs came out of a murray. i have no idea if it runs yet, but it is loose and has compression. i took the fly wheel off to look for points, and found wht appears to be a generator type set up, should it be cleaned up and with what before i put it back together? then i assume it has the magnatron in the coil, but o see the wire going from the coil to the side of the engine is bare for about two inches, should that be replaced or covered be fore i put the flywheel back on ? lots of questions but thanks for ypur help!!! john s.
