What do I want in a snowblower

Recommended Posts

Scott Salmons
I have been looking for a snowblower for my B-112. I know little about them since I have never owned one. Those of you that have had experience I would appreciate if you would give you likes or dislikes about different models. Thanks Scott

the first single belt models the auger is about 6 or 8 inchs shorter than the over all cutting width (witch kind of make it like pushing a funnel) in dryer snow no matter but wetter snow it kinda packs & hesitates to go thru in not a smooth flow sm05 (on first or full width passes) also a 36 inch cuts no wider than the tractor I like my 42inch.:)

The B-112 Will handle the 36" blower quite well but will struggle a little with the 42" blower in heavy wet snow. You just have to take it slower in the heavy stuff. You should have 16hp to handle the 42" blower real well. Get the second generation 36" blower do not fool around with the 3 belt blower or the first design single belt blower which was a 3 belt converted to single belt. Also you need a 36" blower with the 5" driven pulley designed for the B series tractors and up to and including 3200 series Simplicity tractors. The blowers with the 7" pulley are for the newer series tractors

The 35" listed on e-bay I assume is a 36", does it look like a single belt newer style? It is not to far from me but I am not sure if that would be OK or wait for a 42". The tractor has a 16 hp motor so power is not a problem.

If this is the one your talking about it is A single belt but the first 3 belt style http://cgi.ebay.com/Allis-Chalmers-Rotary-Snow-Blower-35_W0QQitemZ120103705725QQcategoryZ82242QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Well I don't know what the problem is with them Maynard, the one in my picture is the same style. now it's not that great in wet snow, so maybe that is what you mean, but in powder, it's great.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with them. If he is going to get a 36" blower he might as well get one that has a 34" auger instead of a 30" auger designed for the 7-10hp tractors. Maybe that is why they work great on a 12-16hp tractor.

Is the one on eBay the type needed for a B-207/B-208? I'd like to eventually pick one up but am unsure what to look for. Would the photos in the auction be a good guide for later? Thanks, Mike

It could be used with the correct hitch but is not the correct blower for the B-207/B-208. I believe they used a 32" blower. The B-207/B-208 is a little under powered to run a 36" blower.
