camsore 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Can anyone tell me the reason why the ends of the lift shaft are drilled and taped? Are they 3/8x16? Also looking for the correct spark plug number on the Briggs 23D.

dav 2 Posted March 31, 2007 nice looking machines! the b 12 i just disassembled for parts had the right hand lever on it. it was keyed to the lift shaft. i was under the impression that the right hand handle was to lift things independent of the rear lift and would pivot on the end of the lift shaft. was it meant to totally replace the left side lift lever or to supplement it? the setup looks like the one on Elon's tractor. what is the second handle on Maynard's tractor for? ehertzfeld 3 Posted March 31, 2007 Yes, the right lever is so you can have two attachments on one tractor, and use them separately. the right side would raise/lower a front or mid attachment, and the left would raise/lower the rear. Say you wanted to till, but not take your deck off. One could use the right lever for the deck, and have the left for the tiller. I Landlord in the picture, has hydraulic lift, that is why you only see one lever. Maynard has hydraulic lift as well on the left side. The second lever you see in his picture, is the lever for the hydro trans.
UCD 14 Posted March 31, 2007 In the top picture of the HB-116 The Johnny Bucket is on the Hydraulic lift You can see the control handle just through the steering wheel in the second picture. The grader blade is connected to the right lift lever and it pivots on the bolt that goes into the lift shaft. ( The shiny washer and bolt at the bottom of lift lever ) The other lever is the Hydrostatic Transmission control lever. This tractor has a 16hp Briggs IC engine in it with a SundStrand hydrostatic transmission and cone clutch mid P.T.O. The tractor was built by Smilinsam at the same time Kent built his HB-216.
