rs07 25 Posted March 31, 2007 This morning I went to my local Simplicity Dealer to buy a fuel filter and to get a price on a snow cab for my Simplicity Conquest for next winter and ended up buying a brand new 2006 Simplicity Legacy XL 4WD with the 27hp Kawasaki Liquid Cooled Engine, a 60" mower deck and a 46" single stage snowthrower. They're supposed to deliver it later on this coming week. I guess you could say I'm crazy, but I figured this tractor should last me many years.

SmilinSam 4,157 Posted April 1, 2007 Funny how things like that can happen aint it? I'm wondering if thats whats going to happen to me next summer when the 08 Dodge Challengers start showing up in the dealerships?
Marty-MN 0 Posted April 1, 2007 congrats on the new one they are nice but I couldn't give up my old ones
MN_FISH 0 Posted April 1, 2007 Not Crazy No loader??? Lots8 of power! We have an 04 Legacy with loader & 60" deck. Love the 4-wheel drive. The only drawback on the mower deck is the discharge blade turns opposite of the other two and if the grass gets away from us it won't discharge very good and builds up and sounds like an old field chopper and throws out big clumps of grass. You can mow a lot of normal grass on a tank full of gas. Had a recall on the throttle cable because it would keep slowing down. The new one does the same and have to keep tightening the bolt for the friction adjustment. Pretty irritating when it happens to the wife and I'm not around to tighten it. She has to hold the throttle. I think it has 425 hrs already. It should really blow snow. One other draw back is when using the loader and it's snowing the throttle will freeze. Check with the dealer to see if they have that solved or you'll have trouble with it blowing snow. Otherwise a good tractor and you'll love driving it!:Dsm06

rs07 25 Posted April 1, 2007 Thanks! I'll post pics when I get it. Yes I got the fuel filters still and am buying a cab for it in the fall for snowblowing. Maybe someday I'll get the loader for it too.

Nubian 3 Posted April 2, 2007 Congrats! you will love the 4X4. Just curious any reason you didn't go with the diesel instead?
rs07 25 Posted April 2, 2007 Didn't go with the diesel because I really didn't want to spend the extra money and don't really need a diesel. I had one before and they are an awesome engine, but parts are expensive for them. I remember the fuel filter alone was over $40. Honestly I never thought I would spend this much money on a mower.sm06

The loaders on those are something else! Nothing like an attachment that mounts itself! Anyway, you are gonna love it- they are a heck of a machine!
quantico 2 Posted April 6, 2007 I was looking for a few spare parts for my sunstar .... last weekend my daughter and I picked up " HER " 20 HP sunstar...... I guess the ultimate spare part is another tractor ????
FiremanRon 0 Posted April 21, 2007 I have the '05 Legacy XL diesel with the loader and 60" deck. I have never had any problem with the throttle cable. The diesel runs great, winter or summer. When we built the house, I used a 5 foot disc to get the yard ready to seed. The "limited" Cat. 1-3 point doesn't lift very high, so I could barely get the disk off the ground. Does anybody else besides King Kutter make attachments for Limited Cat. 1? The only problem I have had was to have the electric height adjust motor replaced because it kept tripping the breaker. Does anybody have a rear mounted brush mower on their Legacy? I have about 3 acres of rough land that I just want to keep the weeds down.
carbuff713 0 Posted April 22, 2007 I have 2000 Legacy that I bought off ebay a couple of years ago. It has a little over 600 hours. I had trouble with the throttle not holding and then it broke. I replaced the throttle cable ass'y (I don't remember the cost but I do remember it seemed very reasonable, but I am used to buying Gravely parts). I believe, the throttle cable and a couple of mower deck bearings are the repairs that my Legacy has ever needed. We (my wife, daughter and I) love it.
