Perry, I could be wrong, but the 2nd one looks like a Bolens dual tube frame garden tractor. If it is, it's a very good strong tractor.

it is a bolens dual tube. this is my first bolens I got my hands on. darn steering is stuck & I think its stuck in gear. the shifter will move but it wont roll. when I lift the rear up the wheels will spin in opposite direction. so I would not think the rear end is froze. boy this was a tank to get to the trailer and load. I was going to go pick these up by myself :O. good thing my buddy came over as I was hooking up to leave :). when I got home I took advantage of the landlord and use it to pull it off the trailer. these all came with Wisconsin engines didn't they??.

The second is definitely a Bolens. All the tube frames that i ever saw had Wisconsin engines.

The bolens tube frames are heavy. Even without an engine. They won't roll easily unless you slide a pin out of the right rear hub when looking from behind. Even with the pin slid out so the hub can free wheel they push hard. Case/Ingersols are about the easiest ones to push. The bolens also have a habit of freezing the steering up. I have a couple I parted out if you need some steering parts.

well that would explain why it does'nt roll. it shifts all gears and it moves when i turn the shaft. thanks for the info. i thought something was screwed up in the rearend.

Good ole' Bolens. My dad had one for years. His had a 14 hp Tecumseh engine. I think it was a 1972 Husky (not sure if that was a tube frame). I think their claim to fame was shaft driven attachments. I remember his also had a large nut on one rear hub that you tighten thereby locking the rear. That pin on the axle that was mentioned has been known to break while climbing hills, sending the operator down suddenly. Be careful if you ever use this thing on steep hills!
