dan762 1 Posted April 1, 2007 Hello, I just purchased and allis chalmers 720 with loader and a 9020. I am pretty new to Allis/Simplicity. I will start with first questions. The 9020 only has 28 hours on rebuild runs like a brand new one, but when you turn the key it just clicks, if you jump the solenoid it will start and then the key will sometimes work. I just wanted to ask the pros so I am not tearing something apart I dont need to. I thought it might me either the solenoid, or the key switch. If it is the key switch, are they availible, same with solendoid. Thanks any help would be great. Danny
Guest Posted April 2, 2007 Try the following kit from Repower Engineering: (800) 462-2218 Electrical Solutions -- Fixes balky, intermittent, solenoid actuated starters. http://edensltd.com/repowereng/default.htm
eagle5473 0 Posted April 2, 2007 If its the starter or solinoid you will need to pull the engine to get access, one of the only bad things on these
Marty-MN 0 Posted April 2, 2007 Mike has it right do the easy thinks first but if it comes to it the engine isn't that bad to pull if you have a hoist
JimS 1 Posted April 2, 2007 You might try checking all your battery connections.
BenB 3 Posted April 5, 2007 Dan the next time it won't start, hold the key in the start position and turn each pto switch on and off. That would sometimes make mine start. I installed the aux.solenoid kit as Mikefox suggested and have not had a prob since then.
