Air Cleaner Base Removal

How does this air cleaner base come off the carb throat?(One piece flojet carb off a 16 HP B&S). I don't want to force it.

It is a force fit with maybe some sealant between the round plate and the carburetor casting. So, it is either leave it on or force it off. I carefully tapped the one on my 13 hp Briggs off and reinstalled it later using a piece of pipe as a driver to prevent damage to the plate.
