Kohler Interchange ?

Can the blower housings on the various Kohler K singles be used on other engines in the series? I assume interchange would have something to do with deck height (distance from crank centerline to head mounting surface) and flywheel diameter at least. Is interchange possible with suitable modifications and are the mod's significant? Thanks

The critical part of changing the housings is bolt alignment, fit to the flywheel and fit to the head. It has to fit right around the flywheel and head to cool properly.

I have one each of the K's 12hp, 14hp and 16hp. The tin housings are all the same with the exception of what kind of air cleaner and where the starter fits. Each will interchange as long as you use appropriate air cleaners and starters. The fly wheels are the same size and only are different depending on the stator used. I would recommend you aquire a copy of the Kohler Engines Single cylinder Engine Service Manual for the K-Series engine. Sitll available, try ebay or amozon books sites. Or order from Kohler. It covers K91 thru K341 engines Dan aka IronPony

Thank you Dan. I knew about the different air cleaners and starters. The K series service manual is already a valuable part of my reference library.
