wminmi
thanx guys! Maynard: i printed that information out last night, and i don't have the little cable "ferrel" thing on top of the adjustment rod like in picture #2, and can't quite see where the throttle cable connects in picture #1 that's why i had asked for a picture of an actual carb/cable. I'll double check my setup, and see if i can get a pic of what i have. I don't think the threaded adjustment rod (governor?) that i have has a hole for cable hookup either B)
UCD
This is the Throttle and governor diagram copied from the B series repair manual for the Briggs 300401 12hp engine in the B-12 and is the same linkage set up as I have on my 3 12hp tractors and the correct set up for the B-12 is diagram #1. It shows it as clear as any picture. The first diagram is for cable being pulled to increase engine speed as on the B-12. The second diagram is for decreasing engine speed by pulling on the cable. Not the setup in these tractor's. I don't Know what you have but this is as it should be in the first diagram.
wminmi
thanx Maynard I ended up snatching the cable connector off of the parts Model 19 and adding it to the 12hp. May not be "correct" per say, but it does run :D
UCD
It makes a difference if the complete & correct information is given when asking a question to get a correct answer. In your question you asked for B-12 cable connection which I gave you. You did not say it was the one going into a 725 that has a different cable hook up which does happen to be the second diagram. wminmi
i asked for a picture of an actual carb/throttle linkage on a B-12, as i was attempting to hook up the throttle linkage the way the B-12 had it. It works, that's all that matters
Ketchamized
William, Nice 'out of the box thinking' creativity. 8D I'd have done the same in your situation. :D On my B-210 with the 10hp engine, there is a hole in that rod that you modified in the picture, but it's down below. Follow that rod to the middle. There should be a hole in that rod. That's where the throttle cable goes in. The cable itself is held to the block somewhere close to that hole. On Saturday, you're most welcome to examine my engine and see how it's supposed to come together. sm01 On Edit: For now, I thought I'd point out exactly where in the diagram it hooks up to. See blue circles and blue lines. :o)
wminmi
Erick ~ Thanx for the offer, and rest assured i shall check it out! I saw the hole in the rod in the pic Maynard posted, but mine doesn't have that hole.....that's why i originally asked for a picture of an actual carb and cable connection, as i was thinking maybe someone swapped the rod with the hole in it, or maybe i was just overlooking the obvious. Oh yeah, and i'll have my camera with me too }:)
wminmi
yep, the rod on mine doesn't have that "hole" in it, so i'm thinking someone swapped it out or something at one time. That's ok though, as the 700 throttle cable wouldn't have been long enough to reach over the top anywhos
Ketchamized
William, No problem, sounds good. 8D That's strange about the rod. Maybe they had a different setup for the 12hp? The way the cable connection is set up is kinda a pain because the throttle cable actually has to bend a little to work right. I did think that it was kinda flawed that way. But if it worked for B&S, then I guess it works. Maybe they improved on it a little and that is reflected on the engine you have? On Edit: Smile... You posted before I could finish the edit. :o) You're fast!
wminmi
naw, not fast, just lucky i guess =) Check yer e-mail when ya can, and check it tomorrow a few times too if ya would. Later, the soft bed is calling my name :D
HubbardRA
I have two B/S engines on tractors that are hooked up different ways than in the diagrams. There are several ways to hook them up and make them work. As I have heard many times: "Necessity is the Mother of Invention".
