6008 carb question

Hello all, Well, the "froze" engine on the new-old machine started for me yesterday. Smoked like a coal-burner, but it fired off. Hopefully just clearing oil....but it did puke some out the exhaust. It has the "auto-choke" feature, and to keep it running decent I had to stick a blade down her throat and apply about 1/4 choke. Also, the float had partially collapsed (must've had some water in there this winter). Found an old Tecumseh float that I tweaked enough to work as a temporary fix. Anyway, I figure it's runnin' so it might be worth a proper float and a carb kit. BUUUUUTTT I'm about 100 miles from home....good news?...there's a Briggs shop here...bad news?...I have the tractor/engine numbers but would rather have Simpletractor expertice in determining the carb type...luckily I have my laptop with me and found a wireless connection at a cafe....geez, but technology is amazing! So, the Simplicity # on the 6008 frame is 1690193. Engine is a B&S 8hp model #191707, Type #5147-01. What I'm wondering is, did they just put one carb type on this engine, and is it a medium flo-jet, etc. etc. etc.? Didn't realize I'd be where I am during the day today, or I'd have brought said info or a digital pic with me, doggone it. Thanks in advance. Back to work for me. Happy Easter to those celebrating!

On the 8 HP engine of that vintage, there is only the one piece flo - jet with either an intergal choke on start or a seperate choke lever. I don't think they convert to paper air cleaner elements. There were some subtle improvements.
