ehertzfeld
What model number?
Morris
yeah, what Elon said...what numbers are on the engine ID plate? Only way to tell is by the numbers... Can't assume all B-10's came with the exact same engine, and all too often, the engines have been upgraded with slightly different models over the years, as is the case with my B-1. So, get us the #'s and someone will know the answer... I have a Broadmoor I just got last week that has a Tecumseh in it, but I'd swear that isn't the original engine.... RayS
If the motor is a 243431 and uses a starter generator. This would be what came from the factory. You need Briggs number 298968 for the armature or coil. Here are a few in this link. callwill
It is a mid 1960's B10 with a starter generator. It is not here & i won't be laying eyes on it for 3 or 4 weeks. I will look through some of the paperwork i have that came with it...was hoping this was easy & i would have the coil for it to get it back together next time. RayS
I got the part number from a B & S parts manual. if it is a 243431 that is original to the tractor that is what you need.
Learning
For what is worth, if you have a Briggs model 23D, the coil part # is 296834. It has "three legs" and is square on top. Not to many around.
Chris727
The early B-10 (1964) has the 23D as the stock engine so to be sure find out the numbers first. I would say that if you think it looks different it might be the 3 leg coil used on the 23D as Learning had suggested. If you need a 3 leg it will be pricey, B&S wants $90 for a new one last time I checked, I found one for about $26 on ebay for my B-10.
