Got this side of the road freebie the other day. Runs out great, mows great and the old man who was throwing it out. He even threw in a new battery so I could load it more easily on my truck. What is it? Aside of the obvious "Sears" badge that is...lol. It's not a keeper. Thought about making another custom out of it but it's lines are WAY to boxy for my liking.

Ugly little thing....PO painted it haze gray and under way (For those of you Navy people) Original color was a metalic silver. Repowered with a 12hp briggs. It's got a busted tooth on Reverse but still engages and goes backwards for the time being. So...What is it?????????

If you have the model no. you can always tell who made Sears stuff by the prefix. (first three numbers) http://www.outdoordistributors.com/Craftsman/Craftsman_Search.html

lol, well folks.....just traded the little thing for a D series Wheel Horse for a buddy of mine. He's into the red and all excited about the trade. Thanks for the help on identifying it for me. It's history. The D series will be here for a short time while I sort out it's ailments so I'll post a pic of the free to my buddy red machine when it arrives. I already know it runs and the hydro is "ok" because this same D series came to my shop last year for an estimate on repairs. The Kohler needs rebuilt and the hydro needs new seals and a couple porportioning valve springs and possibly some other work once it's torn into but it's a hoss of a tractor and well worth the free price via the trade of that little sears for it. Besides the D series it also comes with the spring trip long frame blade.

That's a murray. I have one that's a little newer--mines an 83 and strong as an ox--Mine has the HD rear end with granny gear though. Manuals are impossible to find, and the Yahoo groups suck, so that leaves me. If you have any questions feel free to drop me a PM.
