goatfarmer 817 Posted April 17, 2007 Who knows anything about this one? Can't find a data plate, says 195 on the hood. Hydraulic everything, even steering assist. Looks like a Kohler or Onan twin under the hood. Obviously the wrong seat!:D Who made this one? Parts available? I would be surprised if it runs, because one plug doesn't have a wire on it! Sign on the front sez $450.00. Thoughts?
BLT 725 Posted April 17, 2007 From what I know, if the lower crankcase is part of the tube frame, it was made by Jacobsen.
Les 4 Posted April 17, 2007 Jacobsen built with a Kohler engine
Les 4 Posted April 17, 2007 My opinion is that it is not worth $400, these are not very well built tractors, as least not when compared to Simplicity.
Roy 0 Posted April 17, 2007 I have a Ford LGT-125 available cheap if you're interested. Wouldn't touch the Ford 195 you're asking about with a 10 foot pole. Just MHO.

Tom_Byrne 0 Posted April 18, 2007 Wow, lots of anti-Ford sentiments!:O:D That tractor looks to be a a mid-1980's model, Jacobsen built. As far as reliability, my buddy has an LGT 165 from the same time period that he cuts two acres with regularly. Except for replacing the muffler and a carb rebuild, no trouble in all those years. Parts are still available.
PatRarick 1 Posted April 18, 2007 I've had experiene with only two 195's, and they've both been good, solid reliable machines. Mechanically, I wouldn't say they are the Powermax of the Ford/Jacobsen line, but I WOULD say they are at least, if not slightly above the Sunstar level. Cosmetics are where they seem to be lacking in quality. Dents, vibration cracks and such seem to be the norm in the sheet metal.
goatfarmer 817 Posted April 18, 2007 I think I'm going to pass on it. Unknown if it runs, and I really don't need another one to tinker with. If I were sure about it mechanically, I might think about it a little bit more. Thanks, all!:p
IronPony 3 Posted April 19, 2007 I parted out an old LGT145 several years ago. Had the K321 engine (which I still have). I bought it non-running for $50 and the parts brought in over $450 via eBay. Even sold the sheet metal. I also still have the rear wheels and tires. Make the guy an offer and part it out. Dan aka IronPony
