Briggs Charging Question--

I just bought an 8 HP side shaft Briggs engine - (Model 190402 Type 0798-01 Code74050610) with a 12 volt gear to flywheel style starter. After looking at it closer I noticed there are no charging wire(s) coming from under the flywheel. I would need to charge the battery / run 2 headlights and drive an electric up/ down actuator. My question is-- Can I get an under flywheel charging stator for that model? I checked Brigg's site about charging but it did not go into that detail. (It explains fine about the scharging styles). Thanks!!!

Yes, but you'll also need the flywheel with the proper sized magnets for the alternator you choose.

Might be easier to find a worn out engine with those parts on it. Another option would be to install a starter-generator on that engine. The flywheel pulley should bolt directly to that engine.

Download the book. Very informative. A dual circuit 12V 3amp DC for battery and a 12V 20 watt A-C for headlight will do the job. I have that on my 917(now Briggs powered) and it works OK.
