removing BGB pulley nut

Recommended Posts

Simplicity314
One more question...I'm trying to swap out the pulley on my BGB, the one with the large nut that drives the tranny. What's the best way to keep the BGB from turning while trying to turn the nut? 64 LL. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you still have the belt on from the bgb to the thans put it in gear and smack the wrench with a hammer.

I have wrapped an old peice of an innertube around the shaft on the pto side the locked a pair of vise grips on it. Have someone hold them so it wont spin when you crank on it.

Thanks..all great ideas. I do have an impact wrench but thought the shaft turned too easily for a wrench to work, but I'll try it. Didn't think to leave the belt on for some resistance. Thanks again.

A finger off of an old work glove will work also. Sometimes you can get lucky and depending on what size glove you have you don't have to sacrifice a glove by cutting fingures off. Rob

Put an old pulley on the PTO side then you have something to get a grip on, I have used a pipewrench on the hub of the pulley to hold it. On the Big Ten I used my impact wrench now hat I have one and still stuck a pulley on the pto shaft to make it easy to hold.
