4212 hydro problem

Recommended Posts

My hydro has the disengagement button stuck "in". I don't want to pry too hard to pull it out. I got it from a guy that left it out all winter. It's stuck in the disengaged position. Help!

Penetrating oil and a gentle tug is how I usually free them. Hope you get it unstuck!

Member Wminmi had the same problem. Liberal use of PB Blaster, or similar, and gentle prying.

I had to use side cutter pliers to grip and raise. As long as you only grip stem in one spot you will be okay. I also unscrewed unit and pushed stem out. After it is out, polish and lubricate

Well, it hasn't freed up yet after three days. Can I remove this part without anything else falling apart inside? I don't have a manual on this transmission so I'm not sure what I'm getting into here. Thanks for the input!:p
