Mashbox 0 Posted May 1, 2007 I have a '64 Landlord that belonged to my father, and I am now trying to get it back in shape for my son. The steering shaft had a collar at the top, that I assume gets set against the shaft that runs through the dash. However, there is all kinds of slop in it. Is there suppose to be some kind of bushing inside the shaft (through the dash)? As it is now, there is nothing there to take up the space, and I do not think the collar is suppose to go inside the tube.

KraigRG 0 Posted May 1, 2007 There should be a rubber collar/bushing that goes on the steering shaft under the steel collar. On my Landlord I found some rubber grommets that would fit snuggly on the shaft and still go in the hole in the dash. I stacked two up as they weren't as thick as original. I think you can still get original collar from Simplicity, I just didn't have time to wait for parts. Kraig
John_RI 8 Posted May 1, 2007 Welcome to the club Barry. As Kraig mentioned, there is a rubber bushing that sits at the top of the steering tube. I think the steering system in this particular tractor is it's weak point. I have a '66 landlord and have had all kinds of problems with slop in the steering system. I have parts from an earlier tractor that I'd like to swap but I haven't gotten to it yet. Good luck and enjoy this site - it's really great. John
