SteveP 0 Posted May 4, 2007 After 3.25 inches of rain in the last 3 days our 8 acres has turn into the land of 10,000 puddles. The grass is 5 inches high and growing. May, just may be able to mow on Sunday. Walking on the lawn is like walking on a sponge. We have only have live here for 2 year and granted I need to work on drainage. It's a good thing that half of the 8 acres is woods. Some where between 3 and 4 acres to mow. I know August will bring zero rain............... and I'll bitch about that also. ;)
Tacey 0 Posted May 5, 2007 I have a very flat backyard. When we moved in 7 years ago, I ran over 600 ft of 4" perforated pipe in a couple field drains to chase the water off my 1.5 acres. Over time , I think that pipe has gotten full of mud or varmint nests. My little lakes are back. What has helped me, though, is cutting little drainage ditches, to help drain some of the bigger lakes. Just about a 3" wide ditch right through the grass. Has done wonders for me this year, a rainy one. Tacey
