Remember the Little Wards?

I few months ago I got a Almost Free Monkey Wards Garden Mark. A nice little tractor, but had a bad differential and the engine had some troubles. But thanks to Goatfarmer I got a new diff and a fancy 2 speed tranny to get this thing back to working status. (Engine is almost done, Not in Photo) This is the before...

And this is it after many hours of work and a Diff and other parts from Goatfarmer.

Hanging out with the 717...

Mark, With some gearing and some light modification, that thing could go REALLY FAST. :D

Mark, lol. When I was a kid, around 11 or so, we had a little Snapper that looked very much like your Wards, except it had a bowtie steering wheel. My grandfather, god bless him, he took the deck off and put on a 14hp engine (original was 4hp, I think) And he played around with the pulleys so that instead of using the pedals to brake, you used it to gas it. When you let go of it, it stopped. It was a clever modification... And well, that thing had a nice gearbox, and it was meant to be used with that little engine with a mowing deck on it. He changed out the sprocket on the gearbox. I can't remember if it was bigger or if it was smaller. It probably was bigger. That thing went so fast that if I stepped on it too quickly from a dead start, it'd flip over and go on top of me. Happened to me two or three times. But I can tell you, I had so much fun. That thing zipped around pretty darn fast. Lost control once and crashed into a picnic table. That didn't stop me, though. LOL My grandfather left it on his old property when he moved. One day, it just disappeared. 4 years later, I found it at my uncle's house hidden behind a shed. So I asked him if I could have it back, since I never gave it to him and was planning on taking it and rebuilding it and all. He said, sure, come back in a couple weeks. 2 weeks later, it was gone and he played dumb. What a jerk... Anyway, that's the story of my very dearly missed Snapper "go kart".{}
