Chris727 2,136 Posted May 11, 2007 I got the engine in the B-12 just in time to do a little disking on Tuesday. The garden at home was getting a little weedy. I went next door to look at my other garden for the first time this spring, and it was so weedy I thought I'd have to use the tiller. I tried the disk anyway, here is the first pass. I kept going and it began to work it up pretty good. I was impressed at how well it did. The "new" engine runs good with no smoke or knocks and plenty of power, best $50 bucks I've ever spent. MPH 12 Posted May 12, 2007 Looks like you got good weed kill. Don't see how you get it too dig without some wts on it. i put about 200lbs on mine, course, that might be why it's about worn out in 3 years.:(

Chris727 2,136 Posted May 12, 2007 Thanks guys. David, the engine came from my parts tractor from this post: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=80420 Marty, I have tried several combinations of disks and weights over the years, I used to have a brinly tandem with 12" blades, it was made for a cat-0 three point but someone put a tow hitch on it, when I used it I had 3 cement blocks on it and it didn't do much. My current set up is a Simplicity 8-12 disc on the rear and a brinly with 11 inch blades on the front, I found it works better without weights, I don't have any idea why, maybe its more free to vibrate side to side and loosen things up. I think the main thing for performance is to hit the dirt when conditions are right and the ground isn't too dry.
