mbrook 0 Posted May 14, 2007 I was wondering if anybody had any experience with this type of Simplicity. I have not looked at it yet, but was wondering if the quality of cut and equipment is as good as there "standard" mowers/tractors. Thanks in advance

Unkle Spike 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Is it started with the crank on the side?
Kent 436 Posted May 15, 2007 Unless I'm mistaken, it's a old Ferris-made machine. Simplicity bought Ferris years ago, and that's where their ZTR technology came from. Simplicity manufactures the consumer models (I think) while Ferris manufactures the commercial models like that one shown... The consumer models are Ferris chassis with Simplcity rear-roller decks. This one appears to be a Ferris heavy-duty deck... Here's the Ferris site: http://www.ferrisindustries.com/
bluecap24 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Actually it was made by Middlesworth out of indiana. I used to mow with one and it mows very nice. I have since bought a 20hp 60" cut model that I am working on the motor. Biggest complaint is the spring that returns the steering wheel to center always breaks. Other than that a very well built machine that is comfortable to run. Refered to as CFC18 or CFC20 depending on motor size. Does that one have the kohler magnum or briggs? Good Luck! mbrook 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Thanks for the info. bluecap24, it has the Kohler 18hp magnum and runs excellent. This is the second one I've ever seen. The first sold on ebay about 2 years ago, I think it sold for $540, but I'm not sure. I was hoping to get more feedback and get an idea of the value of these. I don't need it but it might be nice to have around, or recommend to my neighbor. I didn't want to ask the "what is it worth" question for obvious reasons, but if anyone else has more insight on the value that would be greatly appriciatted. bluecap24 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Kent it was 1989 according to the milestones page on the simplicity site. I was talking to my local dealer and he said they sold a ton of these machines. He has one customer that loves his so much that he has lost it off of his trailer twice and paid to have it fixed. This last time he purchased a complete brand new 60" deck! Now I am tractor nuts but come on. Think he would have learned after the first time is came off. By the way the spring I was talking about is broke on the one in the picture cause the steering wheel is turned. It should be centered. Check the pto shaft bearings also they can wear out.
