djcgrand
Thanks for everyone's input. I had the issue with the Sunstar Kohler Magnum 20 getting no spark. It ran fine, sat outside for a couple days and then when I went to start it, it had no spark. The suggestion was that it needed a new module. Last night I was going to bite the bullet and pull the motor and get down to the business of checking the module. Before I started, I tried to start it one last time. I turned the key and it fired right up and ran like a top. I ran it for about 3 minutes or so. I ran inside, changed my clothes to mow and came back out to start it, and I got nothing. It turned over alright, but back to no spark. Do you think this is still the module, or maybe a short of some sort? If the module was bad, would it be bad and not work at all, or would it still work intermittently? Thanks again for your help/ input.
DMedal
by starting a new thread you've sort of divorced this one from all the prior advice. Last posting in the other thread was Al explaining how to diagnose the module with a fairly simple test. Was that done? Running it 3 minutes and letting it sit was probably long enough to get the module or whatever the problem is warmed up and acting up. Since you can apparently readily replicate your problem I strongly recommend doing the test and observing results before ordering a module. I'd also recommend joining the club so you can access more stuff. Best $10 I ever spent, it has paid off big time in repair savings alone. Good luck with your fix! -Don
